Warm Days: It can get pretty warm in the airplane so we recommend you wear loose fitting clothing. We also would recommend closed-toe shoes.
Cold Days: Wear warm clothes. Once in the airplane it gets pretty warm.

Minimum recommended age is 10 years old. However, the final decision will be up to the flight Instructor to decide if he or she feels safe to go up and fly.

NOTE: when calling to schedule, make sure you have the order number in-front of you. -
Pilot in Training Flight Academy open 7 days a week. We are limited to daytime flying and usually start booking introduction flights from 8 am until sunset (which is the landing time).
NOTE: we don’t book same day flights as the flight instructors are not available on such short notice, and we are weather dependent.

Yes, this is a great gift for a friend, coworker, family members, holidays, etc.
Things to keep in mind: If you purchase the Introduction Flight as a gift consider giving the certificate as a gift and not schedule a surprise flight. People usually need to be prepared mentally for this event and it is difficult for us to accommodate a surprise flight as we are very weather dependent.

It depends on the Introduction Flight you purchased. For the 30 minute flight we will most likely fly 8 nm North East of Gaithersburg and the 1 hour of flight option we will fly 15 NM north east of Gaithersburg.
NOTE: The instructor has the final decision based on weather or other restrictions that day. -
Yes, you will. Once the airplane reaches a safe altitude (usually 2500 ft) the instructor will let you fly the airplane. However, the instructor may limit your actual use of the controls based on safety-related issues.

Yes, as long as it will not interfier with the safety of the flight and will not create a disturbance to the flight instructor or the pilot. We highly recommend to take pictures and videos to save those moments.
You can use the phone camera or bring any other small size camera.
